Parent Category Resident Visa

The Parent Category Resident Visa allows parents of New Zealand citizens or residents to live in New Zealand permanently. This visa is aimed at reuniting families and providing support for aging parents.

Submit an EOI detailing your relationship with the sponsoring child and financial support evidence. EOIs are randomly drawn from the pool 4 times per year, until the annual quota is reached. If selected, you will receive an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for residency under the parent resident visa category and need to provide supporting documents, including proof of relationship, sponsorship, and financial capacity.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Must be sponsored by an adult child who is a New Zealand citizen or resident, making them eligible for the parent resident visa NZ.
  • The sponsoring child must meet income thresholds to support the parent(s), ensuring financial eligibility for the New Zealand parent visa.
  • Must meet health and character requirements as per parent visa NZ guidelines.
  • Successful applicants will be granted the NZ parent resident visa, allowing them to live in New Zealand permanently.
